Due to the irresistible external factors, the team had to change the experimental site when the experiment was nearing the end. The new venue is located in the Harbin Aquatic Center, adjacent to the former Wetland Park. The process of site replacement was hard, but the team members completed the transition in an afternoon, showing excellent teamwork.
At the end of September, the weather began to cool, and the team members who had suffered from the heat had become very energetic at this time. The detection of the sensing system continues to make breakthroughs: the hydrophone function is well tested, the processing speed of the information acquired by the radar is increased, and the processing speed of the sensory system processing center is improved. In addition, the design, fabrication, assembly and testing of the deliver equipment are also carried out simultaneously.
The changing weather in Harbin and the lack of a sensory information processing center have once again affected the progress of the experiment. Affected by rainy weather and previous sun exposure, the equipment and facilities on the unmanned vehicle have been affected to varying degrees. In order to ensure that the experiment can be carried out quickly after the sensory information processing center is in place, the team decided to trim the vulnerable and damp-resistant equipment and lines on the boat.
As the experiment progressed, the endless problems were solved. Unconsciously, the days of the game are getting closer and closer, and everyone took the time to study the new venue layout and mission rules.
Compared to the venue layout during the 2016 competition, the venue layout for the 2018 competition is more complex and the mission is more compact. For example, in the mission of dock docking, the layout of the dock has changed from three parallel docks to two opposite docks. The obstacles in the obstacle avoidance mission are more densely arranged and have boundary restrictions. Only by fully studying the new venues and new rules can we grasp the key points of the competition and accomplish our mission well. As the weather gradually improved, the development of the second open water experiment became easier. However, the summer in Harbin is still very hot, and the sun is glaring, which brings a bad working experience to the team members.
But unfortunately, as the test progressed, the team found that it was unreasonable to consider only the ideal situation for the real needs. The information processing speed of the information processing center cannot guarantee the normal operation of the unmanned vehicle.
We can never foresee what will happen in our experiments. Although the results of the experiment of the second week made us look forward to the future, the weather in Harbin in the third week gave us a setback. Most of our work is in an intermittent state, and even most of us was doing something indoors. The biggest problem we encountered this week was that there was no way for the radar to give stable parameters when planning the motion route of the unmanned vehicle and determining the feature points.
After the first week of the experiment, the members of the team were very annoyed because of frequent problems, but it was a joy to be able to get unexpected results and experience some unexpected situations. After all, nothing is perfect from the beginning. On the basis of the first week of experiments, we actively sought ways and means to solve the problem and adjusted the progress of the experiment. Overall, the second week of the experiment made some breakthroughs: in the realization of Entrance and Exit Gates and identifing icons, the modified WAM- V demonstrates the expected capabilities.
